At Hill School, we are committed to offering each student an experience rich in learning, growth, and community. We encourage each interested family to schedule a tour of the school as part of the admission process. It is important that each family understands and supports the school’s educational philosophy, program, and culture.
Interested applicants may contact Kelly Johnson, at 540-687-5897 or select the checkbox below to complete the online form.
Procedure for Admission
A strong community is central to Hill School’s philosophy, mission, and program. Through admissions, the school seeks to create a community that values students with a range of academic abilities and a variety of cultural, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds. The school seeks students of average to exceptional academic aptitude who are both able to benefit from and contribute to the school’s programs and community. The school strives to include sibling and alumni applicants as well as new families.
Students are selected for admission to the school on the basis of academic readiness, developmental maturity, and personal strengths. The fit of the applicant in the class and overall student body, and the philosophical alignment between the family and the school are also considered. Testing is used as a tool to provide information to assist in the assessment of each candidate. In all cases, the decision to select a student for admission is made by the Admissions Committee and reviewed by the Head of School.
Admission decisions are made within established guidelines for the student body and class size. In case of a qualified applicant for whom space is not available, Hill School maintains a non-ranked waiting list. It is the policy of the school not to discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in the administration of its admissions program.
