Hill School Annual Giving 2007-2008
Annual Giving Fund is the only fundraising activity at Hill School that touches every member of the school community:
parents, alumni, former parents, grandparents, faculty, and other friends of the school. Each year all are asked to participate.

The Cost of a Hill School Education
Hill School’s tuition this year is $18,000 for grades one through eight and $13,650
for kindergarten, yet the actual cost to the school of having each student at Hill is about $24,000. This reflects all the costs of operating the school, including paying the mortgage on the campus expansion (1991-2003).
Tuition and Philanthropy
Most independent schools depend on charitable contributions each year to help pay
expenses not covered by tuition and fees. Charitable contributions help Hill keep tuition competitive. Families and friends of the school
make charitable contributions through Annual Giving, the Auction, gifts to the endowment, gifts designated for capital improvements,
gifts in kind (e.g., land and/or housing), bequests, and other planned gifts.
Annual Giving Contributions Are Tax-Deductible
The Hill School is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation. Charitable contributions to
Hill are tax-deductible.
The Role of Annual Giving
In combination with other revenue sources, contributions to Annual Giving
enable Hill School to compensate teachers, maintain a low student-teacher ratio, offer strong academic and co-curricular programs,
purchase instructional materials, keep the lights on and rooms comfortable, and maintain the campus. Seventy cents of every operating
budget dollar pays for faculty salaries and benefits. In addition, Hill receives designated gifts to Annual Giving in support of the
school’s need-based financial aid program.
100% Parent Participation
Hill School asks every family to make a gift or pledge to Annual
Giving by December 31. Every year Hill also receives contributions to Annual Giving from parents of alumni, grandparents,
alumni, and other friends of the school, which are essential in raising our goal of $350,000.
Ask Your Employer About Matching Gifts
Many employers have matching gift programs that could double or
triple your gift. Check with your employer’s human resources office to obtain a matching gift form. Then complete the form, send it to
Hill, and we’ll do the rest.
